Peachy Keen

These little ladies are from the Peachy Keen range, part of the Eat Me; Keep Me series. The Eat Me; Keep Me series focuses on the notion of self indulgence. In exploring the parallels between ‘valuable’ and ‘everyday’ I have drawn a symmetry of opposites between porcelain and confectionary items; both are similarly self indulgent, inspire desire and are coveted, but both are fundamentally frivolous. Advertising campaigns play to our vanity and suggestibility, and in the competition to see which brand can be the sexiest we don’t know any more whether we should be eating the chocolate pudding or pouring it all over ourselves! We are clearly enticed by the notion of food as a luxury, an indulgence, something a little bit naughty. And why not?

Light Spill

Just another teaser for those of you waiting for the launch of Light Spill. This and three other colourways will be available to buy very soon, hopefully by the end of the week. The very talented Colin Usher is re-vamping my website so that these and several other products will be available to purchase directly online. In the meantime I'm taking orders by email on postmaster@rebeccawilsonceramics.com.

UKYA01 Derby, Pickfords House

A lucky few of the tarts and floozies are settling into their new home for the next two months. Pickford's House is museum of Georgian life and houses period objects from Derby City's collection in their original context.
Today I have been nestling my naughty creations in the nooks and crannies between the austere crockery and fancy figurines. Let's hope they don't lead them too far astray!

"Eat Me; Keep Me" is at Pickford's House, 41 Friargate, Derby, until Fri 17th December 2010. Admission to the museum is free.

Light Spill Update!

For all those who have shown an interest in 'Light Spill';
I am now back from Origin and back in the studio. This week I will be producing a new batch of lights which will be used to illustrate the variety of colourways/patterns available on my website. The online shop is still a way off, but you can email me to reserve one of the batch currently in production. The first 5 (yes only five!) will be ready for shipping at the end of next week, after which I will be taking orders by email with a four week lead time as lights will be made to order. You can buy them 'off the shelf' for £250 + p&p, but for a small additional cost I can create bespoke designs to your requests. Email me for more information, and keep an eye on http://www.rebeccawilsonceramics.com/ to see the new designs!

Life Is Sweet
From 18th July
The Harley Gallery
Welbeck
Nr Worksop
Nottinghamshire

I have just sent a collection down to the Harley Gallery on the Wellbeck Estate in Worksop, Nottinghamshire to compliment the work of their artist in residence, Jane Wildgoose. Jane has created an installation of sugar flowers that explore the complicated 18th century conventions for serving dessert. Inspired by the 155-piece dessert service commissioned by Margaret Duchess of Portland, and a set of Chinese watercolours from the Collection that depict porcelain production, Jane reveals the curious story of how the discovery of the secret of porcelain manufacture in the West led to replacement of the intricate sugarwork on the dessert table by fine chinaware.

Bite Me!

So tomorrow is D-Day, I have to deliver all my new work to the ladies at CraftScotland who will be taking it down to the Saatchi Gallery for Collect 2010. It's been quite a rush over the past few days, mostly because I came across some great 1950's calander girl pinups online and had to remake most of the pieces I had already made to incorporate these buxsome beauties! But I managed to squeeze in a quick photo session today to document the new work before it goes off on it's journey down south.
